It has been a little while since we last shared a Joe Meek song hasn't it? Today we have another golden charm from his spectacular album 'Let's Go!' featuring some the delightful female singers that Mr Meek worked with in the 60s, from obscurities and oddities, to peppy poppy beats, it is ever spinning at Twee Towers.
This sad tale of teen loves lost by Glenda Collins centres on a fairground romance, 'I lost my heart at the fairground' is a song about a girl who falls for the boy who works the swing machine, she looses herself in the throws of the romance, but there is a sad twist in the tale, we shan't spoil the end, but oh, poor Glenda, boys can be so cruel!
Tragically it was not just love Glenda lost on the fairground ride that is the music industry - when Joe Meek met his unfortunate end in '67, so did Glenda's career, she took up an office job and only sang at weddings from then on...
Much love,
R&L xx
