A Vintage Twee Party: Part 2

vintage_twee_party_banner

Welcome to Part 2 of our Vintage Twee Party! Yesterday, we shared our inspiration for taking a nostalgic amble back through our favourite Twee Tower moments, to pull together the ultimate Twee Party, after reading the charming Vintage Tea Party book by Angel Adoree! After guiding you through our tips for the perfect twee set up and some retro styling advice, we now move on to our favourite bit, the treats and tipples!

After a trip to France last summer, Rhi brought home lots of lovely Rose & Violet flavoured goodies, including syrups, sugars and liqueurs and we set straight to work concocting yummy cocktails to celebrate her return! An absolute must on our Twee Towers drink menu... floral cocktails!

Our delicious Rose Martinis went down a storm, adorned with dried rose buds... one must always pay attention to the finer details of a twee soiree!

Parma Violet tini's! Absolutely divine. As with all Twee Towers cocktails, we prescribe to the dash of this and splash of that methodology! We think we used martini, vodka, violet syrup and violet liqueur to taste. You could always add lemonade to make this into more of a punch!

Speaking of punch, here is our take on the summer classic Pimms Cocktail! All the traditional ingredients of a pimms, with our own little twist!

For a more subdued event, we are obsessed with Twinings Lavander Earl Grey or Rose Flavoured Tea! So much so, that we may have had a teeny, twee troubles-esque meltdown when our local supermarket stopped stocking it... for months, and months, argh!

The menu from our Royal Wedding Celebration (as mentioned in Part 1) featured traditional English Afternoon Tea fayre including miniature cakes, crumpets, cucumber sandwiches, strawberries & cream and Twee Towers staple Champagne!

Earlier this week, we were discovering the joys of making our own preserves. We started out with the delectable Strawberry & Rose curd! Serve on scones or spread between sponge layers on a cake! Tie with co-ordinating ribbons and these become a lovely part of your set-up too!

Seriously Twee cake, Lavender & Love... with a starring role from the aforementioned Lavender Tea, this was our take on Gizzi Erskine's Earl Grey Chocolate cake and tasted simply fabulous.

Perhaps our most delicious creation yet, the truly scrummy Violet & Chocolate Cupcakes! In true Twee style, we even created our Silent Movie to take you through the recipe...

Hope you have enjoyed partying with us, we'd love to see your own Twee Parties soon! In case you missed it... Vintage Twee Party Part 1.

Cocktails, Celebrations & Casanova Chris!

Rhi with the birthday boy!

Thanks very much to Kass for letting us nab some of her pics!

Chris turned 24! Twas a very exciting affair. Initially we had planned to go to a burlesque evening (booze, suits and boobs for the birthday boy) but unfortunately we had left the planning a little too late and it had sold out, boo. Nevertheless, we got glammed up and headed out for a night on the tiles. After a few drinks in the pub, a couple of delicious cocktails and a 90s spice-girls orientated singalong we headed over to our fave club night Yum Yum for a boogie! Superb night... and we didn't even wake up hungover... hurrah! Hope you had a marvellous night Christophe!

Keep your eyes peeled for a Chris-special guest post next month!

Much love,
L&R xx

Twee Treats // Rose Martinis...

Exciting news everyone - RHI IS BACK & she's brought lots of treats back with her...

IMG_1963

Among the millions of bottles of champagne; red, white and rosé wine; violet, rose and raspberry liqueurs; rose tea, violet tea, sweets, flavoured sugars, sweet biscuits, macarons... were the ingredients to make a super twee rendez-vous cocktail for our reunion!

Rose Martinis

Rose Martinis:

You will need:

Martini (bianco)
Vodka
Rose Liqueur
Rose Cordial
Dried Rose Buds
& Ice...

As with our Twee Punch the measures and amounts are rather made up (aka liberal... aka a little too strong!) so just experiment with amounts until you get the flavours the way you like it (recommend a splash of vodka to a glug of martini and rose it up to taste!) - pour everything into a jug with ice, give it a stir (sorry, Mr Bond.) pour into a lavish glass (Rhi also picked up some of these Dita Von Teese style champagne 'coupes' - aka Marie Antoinette glasses - modelled on the French queen's bosoms!) - garnish with a rose bud - et voila! Perfection! Sip with friends, perfect for parties (or a girly night in!)

Much love R & L xx

ps. We'll share some food recipes soon - we promise we don't just live off of cocktails!

Warming up Twee Towers...

ifyouaintdirrtythenyouaintheretopartay copy

2 weeks ago we had a gathering to celebrate the move (it was great motivation to finish off all the decorating!). We did intend to take lots of pictures of our little soiree, but as it turned out we were just having FAR too much fun playing hostesses to think about snapping all our friends (and maybe we drank just a little too much Twee Punch...!)

Luckily we did remember to get pictures of our cute little candy table before it was demolished! We had a selection of everyones favourites: dolly mixtures, sherbet lemons, flying saucers, jelly beans, marshmallows, donuts and popcorn - was a big hit! (We do have some experience doing these though, Rhi runs a candy buffet and events company with her Mama - Daydream Believer Events.)

The Punch was our own twist on the classic Summery Pimms...

photo

TWEE PUNCH:

Fill a jug with a few handfuls of ice, raspberries, strawberries and cucumber.
LOTS of Pimms.
Quite a lot of Creme de Framboise.
(a few generous splashes of whatever else is lingering in the cupboards... we suped it up with lemon and manderin liquours!)
Top up with Fizzy Flavoured Water (we used Pear and Elderflower!)
Tear off some mint leaves
stir everything around...

Serve and get merry :)

We're planning another party for next month because Lola's turning 23! Stay tuned for that - its going to be super cool, can't wait to share it with you!!

Love R&L x

{{Editors note: We originally posted this with the recommendation that you topped the punch up with Lemonade... However, we later remembered that we used Pear and Elderflower fizzy water, that was what made it so wonderfully special and not your typical Pimms beverage - we may have been slightly intoxicated when we made the punch, hence the memory lapse - Apologies for our error, trust us it is MUCH better with the flavoured water.}}
