About

Once upon a time there were two little girls, Rhianna and Lauren, who bonded over their love of Goosebumps books, fringes and making up dance routines to Steps...

... They always knew they wanted to work together, to begin with they decided being in a band was the way to go – they formed Sizzle with Rhi’s cousin, an exciting trio act, who did spectacular versions of popular hits by Billie Piper, B*Witched (acapella, with the jig...) and Will Smith, and even wrote a few classic tunes of their own, the much revered “Sugar, Honey, Bumble Bee.” – sadly, the group only performed one gig before disbanding. Later they sojourned in the jewellery industry, with the creative concept of encasing sweets – gummy bears mostly – in nail varnish to create unique pendants, under the name ‘Nobu’ (after their favourite Battle Royale character) – unfortunately their materials were just too damn tasty and the project was stalled before tooth decay set in.
The pair continued to experiment with hair brained schemes and concocting weird and wonderful ‘alternative’ fashions throughout their teenage years, from dressing as Bananarama at Halloween when they were 12, to sticking pins through everything they owned and sporting copious amounts of black clothes, nail varnish and eyeliner (though they never did quite kick that eyeliner habit entirely...) – not forgetting Rhi’s ‘pink period’ – when she dyed her hair a rather fetching shade of fuschia or when Lauren was voted 'Best Dressed 2006'... in the school year book.
Luckily they made it out the other side of the many styles and phases that taught them all they needed to know about self expression and experimenting with fashion... While at university at opposite ends of the country they both found themselves pulled back into the 60s and 70s, and found that here was where their hearts and style belonged. Rhi studied design at London College of Fashion, before working in Fashion PR for a High Street Brand, Lauren completed her degree in English Literature and moved into a role in Marketing & Events.
Now living and working from ‘Twee Towers’ – along with Myles (Rhi’s baby boy) and Bruce - the cat (aka, 'The Boss' - he's an aspiring Springsteen impersonator) ... Rhi & Lauren have finally realised their dreams after years of planning and launched She Dressed in Black. Presently in phase one of their venture, releasing unique and individual artworks that they had been previously creating exclusively for friends and family, while working on designs for their first stunning and original vintage inspired collection...
